Description:
Usually a smaller tree, but can grow up to 15 meters. Often used to make olive oil and other foods. Can withstand a minimum temperature of -10 degrees Celsius. Planted throughout the whole year and is believed to have first started being planted in Syria and Palestine. Olives on the trees can be harvested when they reach a purple/greenish color. Grows best in hot and dry climates.
Distribution/Location:
Native to the Mediterranean basin. Commonly found/grown in the Mediterranean. Can be seen in many places including Chile, Peru, California, South Africa, etc.
Environmental Concerns:
Not extinct in the extinction status. Beneficial to the environment as it contributes to cleaning the air. Allows for olive oil and lots of consumable foods.
